About The Tale of Chester Littlefield
This story was written and concieved in 1992, during a tumultuous period in my own life. I worked on it whilst traveling across the United States, starting it in my hometown of San Francisco, and finally finishing it in Boston, Ma.
The main character of Chester was created by Geoffrey Shirvani, one of my very closest friends, who passed away in 1995. His Chester and mine are very different slants on the same character; and I owe him a huge debt for the long nights we had discussing the psychology of such an unlikeable sourpuss.
The character of Jen is inspired by one Jen Vittun, a beautiful punk girl with whom I was vainly smitten with at that time in my life. If she is still alive out there in the world, (and I like to think she is,) I hope that she is still a brightest light roaming dark streets after midnight.
Sadly, the original artwork for this comic book was stolen from me in the Summer of 1993, while I was moving into a new address in the Upper Haight district in San Francisco. I have no idea where on earth the originals ended up. (Or, for that matter, anything else that was in that portfolio.)
Luckily, I did at the time make many decent quality copies of the entire work, which were painstakingly worked over to an an obsessive degree in Photoshop, in order to display the comic here and make a print version available.
I present this story, with the greatest respect, for Geoffrey.
